Anandhi Upendran is the Director of Research at NBI. She has over 15 years of research training and experience in nanomedicine, bioinorganic chemistry, transition metal chemistry, and synthetic inorganic chemistry. She has the credit of directing and successfully completing two SBIR Phase I proposals awarded from NCI/NIH. She has pioneered large scale synthesis of biomolecule conjugated nanoparticles under cGMP conditions.

Dr Upendran has developed novel pathways for generating new conjugates for molecular imaging and therapy applications. Dr. Upendran is currently leading a USDA project in developing a nanosensor for bio molecular detection. Dr. Upendran works with NBI consultants for obtaining details on animal bio-distribution and CT imaging studies.

Dr. Upendran finished her Ph.D. in bioinorganic chemistry in 2000 from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. In her post-doctoral work at the University of Missouri-Columbia, she worked extensively on the inorganic chemistry of gold, palladium and platinum.
